Lorin Gaffen was born in Johannesburg, South Africa where she did her bachelors degree at the University of the Witwatersrand. She completed her masters in Clinical Psychology and Counseling at Fairleigh Dickinson in NJ. She has worked as a therapist, specializing in addiction and family therapy in NJ since the late 1990’s; at Daytop Village in Mendham, a methadone clinic in Plainfield and running an IOP with multi family groups in Florham Park. Lorin did the summer intensive at the Minuchin Center in 2009 and met Jay Lappin. Jay has supervised her regularly since then and she attributes much of her success in working with families and couples to his supervision. Since 2008, Lorin has been working in private practice in Florham Park, doing individual, family and couples therapy – always with a systemic lens.
